Dinner #3- Me & Some Trashy TV
After a busy week home for thanksgiving- family, catching up with friends and going out of town, I was in need of a night in with some good dinner, wine and reality tv! This summer I spent a lot of time at the Dallas Farmers Market where I discovered my favorite pasta company! Called Pappardelle's, they make flavored pastas like basil garlic and spinach garlic. With so much flavor already incorporated I dress it with olive oil, pepper and parmesan. Tonight I decided to go with the spinach garlic, sautéed shrimp and garlic bread... If salad wasn't having a recall a caesar salad would have been perfect too... Tonight was paired with a red blend from California of Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vintage of 2016, Menage a Trois was a lighter red with thick tannins.
*All gone
Although there was a garlic note in most of the dish, over all the dish is pretty one dimensional and so Menage a Trois was a perfect addition! With such a rich flavor it helped the food elements shine more. I think overall it helped the pasta and shrimp the probably because they are the least processed and the bread from the freezer section has a lot of added stuff. The wine had lighter red palette taste like I mentioned and even a sharp jam factor.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this class and pulling myself out of my comfort zone not only with wine but how I go about meals! I plan to keep up the creativity and diversifying wine style.
*Perfect way to celebrate the beginning of my wine blogging career
