My History with Wine
My experience with wine started really just a year ago! I had had it a few times in high school and the first couple of years of college but it was all with a $5 bottle of Barefoot from the gas station. The Barefoot I would have was Pino Grigio and that varietal of grape was the only thing that has stuck since. Like many of us, what my parents typically drink and have in the house is what I have gravitated towards. It was through my mom I found my favorite brand, Chloe, of grigio and found out I love a Meiomi glass of pinot noir.
When at dinner I typically just ask for the house pinot grigio. I am not very good at looking at a wine menu and carefully reading up on all the fabulous wines they may have to offer. I am also not the best at paring the correct varietal with my meal. These are all things I hope to become better and more aware of in this course.
While I hope to correctly learn what wines to drink when and where I also hope to learn and practice proper tasting methods. How to swirl, sniff and sip wine all the right way. So many times I have seen it done of tv or by fancy people in restaurants but never understood what they are getting out of it. I really look forward to all of the knowledge this course will provide and plan to take in as much as possible.
