With an extremely fruity smell the first couple seconds after tasting it are no different. Although what I read online described the wine as having apple tones I felt it was very similar to a banana! Not the typical pinot grigio I pick to drink on a normal basis. There is a dry after taste but only in the slightest. 

Had the wine without food.
